Yes, there is a difference, but it can be subtle and hard to face.

Loving someone feels like choosing them, even when being alone wouldn’t break you.

It’s rooted in connection, respect and genuine care.

Not wanting to be alone often feels like clinging, like needing someone to fill a silence you’re afraid to sit with.

When it’s love, their presence adds to your life.
When it’s fear of loneliness, their presence patches something you’re scared to face alone.

Sometimes, the real clarity comes when you ask yourself: “If I wasn’t lonely, would I still want this person?”
